When one tends to think about epic television ‘ships, there’s one that manages to earn a top spot on the list time and time again: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The two co-leads of The X-Files for much of its initial nine-season run grew to become more than professional work partners at the FBI, and in the background of the series their relationship evolved to a point that could probably be termed romantic even if a certain showrunner frequently balked at using the term. More accurately, Mulder and Scully’s relationship wound up transcending simple labels, and it was their connection that anchored the series even after Duchovny downgraded to a recurring role after Season 7. The one where it all began. From the start, it’s plain to see that Anderson and Duchovny have the onscreen chemistry that became part of the reason why shippers were so invested in Mulder and Scully’s future. A pivotal moment in the episode leads to Scully baring most, if not all, to Mulder in order for him to check to see if the twin marks on her lower back are the same that have been found on victims. His confirmation that they’re only bug bites sends her into his arms for their first of many embraces.
Gillian Anderson husband: Is X-Files and The Fall star married?
Six years ago, at the age of 23, she came to Hollywood with negligible acting experience and got cast in the smart but iffy TV pilot as an impeccably groomed, unsmiling FBI extraterrestrial buster endowed with prodigious gray matter. That show, the X-Files, took off like a shot to become a full on screen phenomena, and though she remained for a while so unknown she was introduced at a gala party for the Fox TV affiliates as “Gillian Armstrong,” Anderson, aka Dana Scully soon came into her own as the thinking man’s sex symbol, a Clarice Starling for stay at homes.
Before long, the young actress who’d probably figured her best hope was to do theater and land the occasional role in an off-Hollywood independent flick, had become a Golden Globe winning icon, riding higher and fast than she or anyone could reasonably have predicted The weirdness of Anderson’s professional life found a mirror on the personal front. During the first year of the series, she met and married assistant art director Clyde Klotz after a nanosecond’s courtship, had an unplanned pregnancy that nearly got her canned for imposing such inconvenience on the fledgling series, and gave birth to a daughter, Piper Maru.
While motherhood took, the marriage didn’t, nd she and Klotz separated.

In news that will devastate women of a certain age, it turns out that two of the glamorous foursome at the heart of Sex and the City can’t stand each other in real life. Kim Cattrall, who played the show’s best character, Samantha, has revealed her anger at Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie, the worst character ever written.
After Parker left a sympathetic message on Cattrall’s Instagram post about her brother’s death, Cattrall called her former co-star a “hypocrite” and “cruel” in a later post. While fans of the show may be dismayed, it’s far from the only instance of co-stars who secretly hated each other. The stars of every basic white girl’s favourite movie did not get on while filming The Notebook.

Roland is an episode that works much better than it really should. The filming and broadcast of Born Again and Roland in rapid succession probably points to the kind of pressure that Carter and his crew were under towards the end of the first year — both episodes play a lot better spaced out, and having the room to shuffle the production order on the two stories probably would have helped them seem less derivative. And yet, Roland is elevated by a superb guest performance. However, Ivanek might be the first guest star on The X-Files to elevate an otherwise bland episode through the sheer force of his performance.
Roland has a lot more going for than Born Again did, and a variety of little interesting hooks that never seem particularly brilliant or inspired on their own, but add up to much more than the sum of their parts. However, there are lots of little playful details that make it seem like an episode that veers almost imperceptibly from template. At a casual glance, Roland is quite indistinguishable from Shadows or Born Again , but — when you look up close — it seems like a charming riff on a familiar concept.
The basic outline is the same. A deceased individual is using a living person as a conduit to strike back at those he feels wronged him in life. In Shadows , a surrogate father-figure protects a young woman from harm and exposes a corporate conspiracy that staged his suicide. In Born Again , a betrayed cop strikes back at the corrupt officers who brutally murdered him.

His mother, after all, is a gritty-as-granite Aberdonian, Meg Miller, whose family originally came from the coastal village of Whitehills, but who subsequently grew up in the city and graduated from Aberdeen University in That helps explain why Duchovny, who was born in New York on August 7 , has been proud to talk about his background and how he was influenced both by Meg and his late father, Amram, a noted Yiddish writer and journalist, who was born in Brooklyn in and whose novel Coney was based on his childhood experiences as a Jewish immigrant before the start of the Second World War.
These two nuggety characters Meg and Jack, soon found themselves deep in conversation after striking a chord together and part of their chat revolved around the fact that it is indeed a very small world. So it was a family occasion all round, proudly celebrated at the cinema, where the stars addressed the audience, and the more relaxed slap-up party which followed at the Royal Museum of Scotland.
Clearly, she thought the world of him and he was perfectly happy to return the favour. When Meg Miller emigrated from Aberdeenshire nearly 70 years ago, she drummed into her son the value of hard work, of making friends on the way up the ladder because you never know when you might meet them in the opposite direction, and recognising that fame and fortune mean precious little without family and happiness.
I got the sense of being an underdog and not expecting life to give you any hand-outs and she prepared me for the struggle. Whenever you have a huge success like The X-Files, it is a happy accident.
